Arden College is looking to recruit an outstanding English Teacher!


We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed Lead teacher of English to enhance our students' experience and progress. The ideal candidate will be UK qualified (hold QTS) and able to teach Functional Skills and GCSE English.


Arden College is located near to Southport, a vibrant coastal town surrounded by natural beauty. We are a specialist further education college for young people aged 16 to 25 years with autism and complex barriers to learning. The learning and support that we provide is tailored to the individual needs, strengths, interests and aspirations of each young person. Our students are supported to design their own personalised curriculum, with the help of their family and other key people in their lives.


You will deliver and lead English across the college, specifically teaching those students who are on an accredited pathway. You will lead on the development of an outstanding English curriculum to ensure excellent quality of provision for our young people. 



The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and ideally have experience of teaching and supporting young people within SEN, along with the following characteristics:



Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of autism, and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged. 



Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.



Organisation – You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.



Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.



Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital

Arden College is situated in the heart of Southport, a vibrant and cultured town on the west coast of Lancashire. The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended and college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region. The college is a co-educational residential and day specialist college for students aged 16-25 years with learning difficulties and disabilities and or behavioural and social difficulties. Individual College programmes of day or residential support are available as either 38 or 52 week placements for up to a three year period and are subject to regular reviews to ensure student needs are being met. The focus is to ensure that learners are prepared for independent adult life as much as is possible
