Job overview

Bridlington School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed team member who can support students in lessons, removing barriers to learning to ensure they make good progress.

The Role

Teaching Assistants at Bridlington School are allocated to faculties, enabling them to be fully converse with the curriculum area in which they support. This fosters a collaborative approach across the team as information is shared between TAs supporting the same students. It also enables you to be involved in wider administrative support of the department and the running of subject specific extra-curricular activities.

The Team

The SEND team is led by the SEND Manager, SENDCO, and Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion) who are all passionate about driving the team and progress forward. Communication and an understanding of updates/changes is key. You will attend weekly meetings with the SEND Manager and SENDCO and will also be involved in Team Development within your subject area to keep up to date throughout the year.

Our TAs have a range of backgrounds – some have come from teaching careers and have looked to step into direct SEN support, some are experienced TAs and some have come from a whole different career change. The diversity of the team is a real strength.

We can offer You

You will have access to a host of CPD and training opportunities both internal and external with the option to take on additional responsibilities in areas of interest.  At Bridlington School we have a genuine drive to support staff-wellbeing through a number of workload reduction measures. Many of our Teaching Assistants gain progression within the school.

About You

You will ideally have some classroom based experience, but applications will be considered from those looking to change career or start a career in education. The important element is your drive to support student progress at Bridlington School, please refer to the person specification, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact the school.

Bridlington School

Bridlington School is a successful 11-18 maintained school with over 1,000 students on roll, a number which is rising year on year as our reputation as a centre of excellence grows within the local area. We have a small but thriving sixth form; the growth of this is an ambition for the school.

Students are polite, respectful and keen to learn, 49% are entitled to free school meals, 25% are also on the SEN register predominantly due to difficulties with literacy and numeracy skills.

Application Process

If you would like to visit the school prior to submitting an application, please contact Sarah Knight on 01262 672593

Completed application forms should be submitted via email to hr@bridlingtonschool.org.uk no later than 14th October 2024.
