We are seeking to appoint two permanent L3 Teaching Assistants at our outstanding all age special school. You will be required to support our diverse range of learners in all areas of the curriculum and adapt your approach to suit their needs. Positions are in our primary and secondary teams but you may also be asked to support across phases.

Hazel Oak is an outstanding learning environment, with pupils who have a broad range of needs including Autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, social, emotional and behavioural challenges and a range of personal care and medical needs. We also support a growing number of pupils with mental health challenges. The working day can be great fun, fast paced but also very challenging. The staff team are creative, resilient and passionate about all the challenges and rewards of working to support children with special educational needs.

Staff are well supported at a personal and professional level, and are actively involved in the school’s development with access to regular training and peer support. We advocate a growth mindset and a positive outlook to support the development, wellbeing and self-esteem of our students across the age ranges. Our culture is restorative and philosophical, working towards shared goals to support pupil self-regulation and build self-esteem and confidence for life beyond school.

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold an NVQ level 3 qualification in education/childcare/child development/supporting teaching and learning, or relevant qualification
  • GCSE at minimum Grade C/4 in English and Maths, or equivalent
  • Have experience of working with children with learning difficulties
  • Be skilled in positive behaviour management and solution-focused thinking
