Al Khor International School is a 4 to 18, co-educational and non-selective international school. Owned by QatarEnergy-LNG, the world’s largest producer of liquefied natural gas, AKIS caters for the children of the company’s employees. We are one of the largest international schools in the Middle East, with approximately 4,000 students across our British and CBSE curriculum schools. The opportunity:
We seek to appoint a qualified, experienced Translation Officer to ensure accurate and contextually appropriate translation of documents, communications, and educational materials between English and Arabic. The successful candidate will demonstrate linguistic proficiency, cultural sensitivity, and attention to detail. The role involves translating official documents, internal and external communications, and school policies, as well as liaising with Arabic-speaking stakeholders. The Translation Officer supports the school’s operational and educational objectives by facilitating effective communication. Skills and qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree in in English/Arabic, Translation, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience in a similar translation or administrative role, preferably within an educational or government setting
- Experience working with official documents, academic materials, or regulatory communications.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written Arabic and English, with excellent grammatical and stylistic command of both languages.
- Strong knowledge of formal Arabic used in official and educational contexts.
- Strong cultural awareness and understanding
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and maintain confidentiality.
