Role: University Applications Coordinator
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Term-Time plus three)
Salary: Up to £37,851 a year (FTE) based on experience
Reports to: Head of University Applications
The University Applications Coordinator will give support and guidance about all elements of the university applications process and manage the day-to-day running of the UCAS system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a first point for guidance and advice to students, parents and teaching staff about all elements of the university application process.
- Have an open-door policy for students to drop in and to seek advice or guidance on any stage of the process.
- Support the work of university advisers and form tutors.
- Use Unifrog to university applications.
- Stay up to date with developments in higher education.
Skills and Knowledge
- Experience of working in a school setting desirable.
- Knowledge of UK and USA university applications processes desirable.
- High levels of literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to write letters and documents with a high standard of written English.
- Ability to proofread own and others work.
- Advanced IT, Microsoft Office and general secretarial skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Highly efficient, organised and able to organise and work on own initiative to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to present material in an effective and appropriate style to promote the school.

About Haberdashers' Boys' School
Haberdashers' Boys' School is a large independent school located in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1690, the all-through school educates around 1,200 boys aged 5-18, all of whom are day pupils.
The School has a selective admissions policy, with prospective students for the senior school expected to pass entrance exams across a range of subjects. The best-performing boys are interviewed to ascertain their suitability for a place at the School. Entrance to the pre-prep and prep departments is also selective, with assessed playgroup sessions and exams used depending on the boy’s age.

In addition, teachers can request specific training which is often run in well attended Twilight Training sessions at the end of a school day. The School operates an ‘open door’ approach with teachers regularly observing and learning from each other.
