The Governors are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced, practising Roman Catholic to the post of Vice Principal at St. Dominic’s RC Sixth Form College. The vacancy has arisen due to the promotion of the current post-holder to headship at a local secondary school.

The 2023 Ofsted Inspection rated St. Dominic’s as an outstanding Catholic institution within a multi-faith setting. The faith life of our community is integral to all that we are and all that we aspire to be. We are one of the highest performing institutions nationally for academic attainment and our students consistently perform above national benchmarks in their examination results and all other key data measures, including retention, progression and attendance. We are part of the Maple Group of Sixth Form Colleges and have strong links with the other Catholic sixth forms around the UK.

An ‘outstanding’ college requires someone exceptional as Vice-Principal, who has the capacity to be ‘outstanding’ in all aspects of their professional role. The person we are hoping to appoint will already have successful leadership and management experience, gained in a range of educational settings, as well as an in-depth knowledge and experience of effective pedagogy, in particular for post-16 students. They will be committed to excellence in teaching and learning and will place our students at the centre of all that they do, ensuring the highest quality education for all our students, in order to fulfil the College’s Mission of academic excellence within the context of excellent pastoral and spiritual support.

The person appointed will play a full and integral role in the day to day running of St. Dominic’s, working alongside an experienced Principal and his team. They should have the ability to work collaboratively to further improve the College’s quality assurance and accountability processes, ensuring the Mission of our College is fulfilled.

The successful candidate will be an energetic and dedicated practitioner who will play a full and active role in leading and managing our over-subscribed, Catholic College. They will be an excellent communicator, resilient, tenacious, dynamic and bring a sense of flair to our popular and over-subscribed College, through their leadership and management. The College is committed to the career progression of its staff. This post offers a challenging and exciting opportunity, with high quality professional development integral to the role, for a talented practitioner whose longer term goal is to progress to headship in the future.

St. Dominic’s can offer you:

•             Hard working, dedicated students, ambitious for their futures

•             Supportive staff who are excellent practitioners always willing to go ‘the extra mile’ to support the students

•             A pro-active governing body, keen to maintain standards and achievement

•             Excellent facilities and working environment

•             Excellent support for wellbeing and work-life balance

•             Encouragement and support in career progression

•             An opportunity to influence the next stage of the College’s development

Specific responsibilities will be negotiated upon appointment. The appointed candidate will be required to teach within their specialism. Visits to the College are warmly welcomed during the week of January 20th.

Application packs can be downloaded from the College website. For further details please email Jacqui Brosnan, College Business Manager and PA to the Principal at jab@stdoms.ac.uk

Closing date: Thursday, January 30th at 4.00pm with shortlisting taking place on Tuesday, February 4th

Interviews: Tuesday and Wednesday, February 25th and 26th
