ROLE SUMMARY:


We are seeking to appoint a Peri Music Teacher to teach Woodwind (Clarinet) from September 2024. Teaching is likely to be timetabled over one day per week during the school term and will involve providing individual music lessons to pupils, including encouragement of performance opportunities and participation in ensembles.

 

The successful applicant will be suitably qualified to teach and motivate pupils of all levels. This is an opportunity to be part of a busy and vibrant music department. All staff share the responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the pupils, in accordance with the School’s Safeguarding policies.

 

The music department runs an extremely full programme of extracurricular activities, some in collaboration with the drama department.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing proper supervision of pupils during lessons times as appropriate whilst on the School’s premises and ensuring that pupils comply with the School’s reasonable standards of conduct and behaviour.

• Recording and maintaining a register using SOCS

• Providing the parents with a written report on the progress of pupils at least once a year.

• Observing such reasonable and lawful policies and procedures as shall be notified to them by the School.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Person Specification

• Ability to motivate and inspire pupils across the age and ability range

• Ability to relate well to young people

• Ability to build pupils’ musicianship, technique and confidence

• Excellent communication skills – oral and written

• Effective IT skills

• Excellent teaching skills Knowledge and experience

• An accomplished singer with relevant qualifications and/or professional experience

• Experience of teaching instrumental music lessons to prep school school age pupils

• Knowledge of the ABRSM and other examining boards Qualifications

• A relevant formal music qualification is desirable.

About Wetherby School

Wetherby School is based in Kensington and Chelsea, London. The independent pre-preparatory school admits boys aged 4-8. There are currently around 360 boys enrolled in the school, which occupies a listed townhouse.

In 2002, the school became part of the Alpha Plus Group. It was founded in 1951 and moved to its current location in 1971.
