Cumnor House School for Girls is an ISA (Independent Schools Association) preparatory school in the Croydon area. We accept girls from 4 to 11 years of age. We provide a wide-ranging education both within and outside the classroom, whilst thoroughly preparing girls for the entrance requirements of their senior schools.

The school now has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Year 2 Teacher to join our fantastic team from January/February 2025. This position will act as Maternity Cover.

We wish to appoint an outstanding practitioner to the position of Year 2 teacher at Cumnor House. Applications are welcome from passionate and suitably qualified and experienced teachers to teach English, Maths and other primary subjects at the Girls’ School. The successful candidate will be confident in all subjects and be able to demonstrate excellence as a teacher. This role is suitable for an ECT/NQT. It is important to be a role model for the class and wider school and to demonstrate our values: Compassion, Courage, belief, Endeavour and Integrity which are embedded throughout the school.
This is a highly fulfilling and challenging role in a busy school. A willingness to become fully involved in extra-curricular activities is also expected.

Who we are looking for
You will hold a relevant Degree in your subject area as well as have Qualified Teacher Status/a Teaching Qualification. Prior KS1 experience and knowledge of current safeguarding practice and procedures is essential. Excellent communication, classroom management and digital competence to utilise technology in lesson delivery are also vital to succeeding in this role.

About Cumnor House Girls' School
Cumnor House School for Girls is an independent preparatory school in Purley, near Croydon in Surrey, for girls aged 4-11. The school was originally part of The Lodge, a co-educational school in Purley. The Cognita group took over management of the school in 2010 and it reopened under its present name in 2011.
Since taking over the school, Cognita has completely refurbished the teaching accommodation and provided a new science laboratory and food technology room. Investment has also been made in new ICT equipment.
