This resource was put together for a Year 4 Geography topic (but could be used with other year groups) & was used as a teaching resource to learn about the region of Catalonia in Spain; the resource was also printed out & used by children as a booklet, to read/research & finally create a non-fiction text (leaflet/poster), a series of worksheets provide tasks to be completed which include research challenges (as extension activities). This resource has been created to include & create potential for cross curricular activities (English, Maths, ICT, Art & DT-food tech) & would cover @ 6-8 lessons (with potential for more!). I taught with this teaching aid &ensured differentiation was possible by the level of support provided to SEN children (both by adults & peers).

A second resource ‘All about Yorkshire’ (local region) was created to enable a comparison between the differing locations, looking at the geographical similarities & differences (with activities mirrored).
This Geography resource was created to be used along with ‘All about Catalonia’ to enable comparison of regions within Europe but can be used in isolation or alongside another country/region (unit of work - cover 4+ lessons). This was used as an introduction to Yorkshire & provided a starting point for teaching & was printed as a booklet for students to read & use as a research aid & to support completion of series of worksheets (offering a range of cross curricular tasks & challenges - create posters/leaflets, Venn diagram, Co-ordinates, ICT, Art, DT) .

Created for the first lesson in this unit (with cross curricular activities incorporated - English & Drama) The lesson has been split into 4 parts…mini-teach then activity. Four activities included with worksheets available at the end of the powerpoint.

Children responded well & engage in the lessons, as they are generally repetitive, over time children learn the sequence of teaching & this allows for a quick & speedy session (20-30mins as required). Can be used for whole class or group work.
