This was made for a taster session I was running for Year 11 students. I wanted to make an accessible 1 hour long lesson with as much interaction as possible.<br /> <br /> This lesson along with the activities are aimed at comparing a PM and a President as well as giving the students a sense of the complete difference between the US and UK political systems. The session went really well. This is a script made for an assembly I am doing with my sixth formers next week. It can be adapted to suit your needs. It gives an overview of the US and gives general reasons what the two candidates believe in, their background and why they are unpopular/popular. It is a four page script. Should take about 10 - 15 minutes including the video (link attached on document - BBC clip).

Election expert - Follow the presentation and answer the questions on the worksheet<br /> <br /> 2. What is a Citizen. Short lesson focusing on what the term means and what makes an ideal citizen.<br /> <br /> 3. How does politics in the UK work? - Linking it to the structure of a school. Adapt to fit your particular school.<br /> <br /> 4. Stand up Sit down - Democracy lesson. Need to give 40% of students a post it notes as they walk in. In the final slides restrict them from standing or sitting (voicing opinion). This 40% represents the number of young people who did not vote in the 2015 General election.<br /> <br /> 5. Ideology - Simple ideology lesson that can be adapted. comes with a worksheet that decides whether their ideas fit into left win or right wing. Idea is that most students will have opinions that fit either side. Hence the reason why parties try and gain as many votes a possible rather than follow one ideology blindly.

This is an assembly aimed at Key Stage 2 and 3 years really. It needs two people to take part. One person will be the interviewer and the other will be 'the UK'. <br /> <br /> The main of the focus of the assembly is the diversity of the UK and key features such as politics, geography, history, economy and society. A series of slides on a power point that could be used for an open night or generally for display purposes. It poses a series of questions related to British and American Politics. It does include the school logo but these can be deleted.

Neville Chamberlain and Adolf Hitler are having a tweet battle. They are both blaming each other for starting the Second World War. Who will you back in the end? A good way to review the 5 main factors to blame for the start of the Second World War. Pupils are summarising the main facts in bullets and then writing their own 'tweet' explaining what they think was to blame.
