This unit of work explores Stone Age art through a clear, skills-based creative process. Pupils begin by developing context, learning about Stone Age life and the purpose of early art forms such as cave paintings. They then revise previously learned artistic skills, including drawing, mark-making, and use of tools and materials. New knowledge is introduced through the study of Stone Age techniques, symbols, and natural pigments. Pupils plan their own artwork inspired by historical sources, do by creating a final piece using appropriate methods and materials, and review their work through reflection and discussion, considering both process and outcome. The unit supports creative development while strengthening historical understanding and artistic confidence.

This week of reading lessons uses One Well to develop pupils’ understanding of water as a precious global resource while placing a strong emphasis on oracy skills. Pupils engage in structured talk activities to build confidence in speaking, listening, reasoning, and responding to others.

This planning outlines an adapted retelling of The Pied Piper of Hamelin, reimagined to suit a modern audience and purpose. It breaks down the narrative into key stages, focusing on character motivation, setting, conflict, and theme, while allowing room for creative reinterpretation.

This unit of work combines music appreciation with persuasive and informative writing to engage students in exploring a range of music genres. Through listening, discussion, research, and creative response, students develop an understanding of how music reflects culture, history, and personal identity.

This unit of work uses the classic fable The Tortoise and the Hare as a foundation for exploring narrative structure, character development, and the importance of a clear moral. Through reading, discussion, and creative writing, students examine how fables teach life lessons and how these lessons can be communicated effectively through storytelling. The unit begins by introducing students to the traditional version of the fable. Students explore the key features of fables, including simple plots, animal characters with human traits, and a strong moral message. They analyse the characters of the tortoise and the hare, focusing on their contrasting traits, motivations, and choices, and discuss how these traits drive the outcome of the story.

Unit 1 plan for the Firework-Makers daughter along with resources. Designed for a Year 3/4 class, although can be adapted easily for straight year group classes. Children are to create a letter from the viewpoint of Lalchand to Lila expressing how he is feeling about her leaving the house.

A weeks worth of planning for a Year 1/2 mixed class although can be easily adapted for a straight year group class based on fireworks. The children explored onomatopoeia and then created their own firework poetry throughout this unit.

A full unit plan of work for PSHE in Year 3/4 based on ‘Saying No’ and thinking about peer pressure with regards to smoking and alcohol. This unit is based around the awareness of smoking, drinking and drugs in a sensitive way with Lower Key Stage 2 children.

A unit of work based on the Year 4 National Curriculum objectives for Plants. The children will be exploring ‘key ideas’, along with taking a skills based approach to learning and investigation throughout the unit. This is a practical unit that will fully engage the children, encouraging full participation and investigation. All paper copy resources included, along with detailed planning and slides to accompany each session. A great unit to teach for both the adults and the children.

A full 2 week English unit based on the William Shakespeare play ‘The Tempest’. This is designed and created for a mixed Year 3/4 class that comes with slides, resources and planning of the unit. It runs in line with the BBC animation of the play. Throughout the unit the children will be investigating Shakespearean language, understanding the key features of a playscript before writing their own scene.
