Revision tips

Graphic resource outlining key revision tips and skills students need in order to study effectively. Aimed at all students, especially those at KS3/KS4/KS5.

We ask students to study throughout their academic journey, but when do we teach them how to do it properly? After volunteering as an academic mentor for some years, I decided to create this resource to answer one of the most recurrent question students have to ask, i.e. “how to study?”.

This resource is organised as follow:

How to prepare oneself to revise

Tips/techniques to use to study effectively

3 top skills needed to revise + questions to ask oneself

It is extremely important to encourage students to:

use a mixture of techniques to study/revise effectively - the more the merrier;

adapt the techniques to suit their learning style (everyone is different!).

The resource also has 2 links to: a video explaining what mind maps are; a page giving mind maps examples to get students started.

This document can be printed in A5/A4 for students to keep, but it can also be printed in A3 to be used as a display in your classroom.

Feedback welcomed!
