I have used resources produced by numerous teachers from this website. I have adapted this to teach in Scotland. I have shown them the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as an introduction to this subject and have linked this in the powerpoint by using some slides from another TES resource. Topics covered include causes of crime such as alcohol and drugs,why we punish, prisons, what the government has done, what charities do. Capital punishment in the UK and elsewhere. Alternatives to prison and Religious responses to how we deal with crime. I teach in a single teacher department and therefore welcome criticism. I have a son who has Mears Irlens Syndrome and I have tried to make these resources as Mears Irlens friendly as possible.

This resource uses other resources from the TES website. It is the basis of a unit on Poverty in Africa that I use with my S2 class in Scotland. This resource has been amended following feedback received from kee88ly. Following comments from globalthinker I changed the title as my intention is to show how certain problems cause poverty. I could just as easily have looked at problems that create poverty in Glasgow. I am a teacher in a single teacher department in a Scottish school and I would welcome some more feedback on this resource. Thanks.

This is based on the 11-14 age group but could easily apply to the 14-16 age group as well. This will take about 5 50 minute periods to complete. Pupils watch the film of ‘The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and then complete the presentation. They will also have to watch,’ a Mothers forgiveness’. Steps for success for the whole 5 periods are: I can describe the story of ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.’ I can explain what C.S Lewis was attempting to do in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe I can express an opinion on how effective C.S. Lewis was in what he was attempting to do in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Themes are betrayal, forgiveness and sacrifice. for the lesson on forgiveness the steps for success are I can describe what Jesus taught about forgiveness I can explain what Jesus taught about forgiveness I can express an opinion on what Jesus taught about forgiveness. This is linked to the Scottish curricula but may be linked to other curricula. My son has Mears Irlens Syndrome and I have tried to make a presentation that is Mears Irlens friendly.
