<p>A collection of five detailed sensory stories/activities created for a PMLD/SLD class. Suitable for ASD too.</p>

<p>These activities can be used on multiple occasions and are very well received by students and staff.</p>
<p><strong>This resource was prepared for a PMLD KS3 SEN class of eight students.</strong></p>
<p><em>Curriculum Topic: Wildlife - Endangered Species</em></p>
<p>For this powerpoint story you will need:</p>
<ul>
<li>A toy bumble bee (a fun project could be to create your very own bee toy/s in an Art lesson)</li>
<li>2-3 garden flowerpots (more or less depending on the size of the group)</li>
<li>2-3 toy balls (If you can only resource one then students could pass it to each other)</li>
<li>A selection of coins (this is a nice numeracy opportunity)</li>
<li>Activate a fan using a switch box and jelly switch. For more able students, they can press the on/off button on the fan and explore different wind strengths</li>
<li>Bubbles!</li>
<li>Disco lights, if you don’t have these fairy lights can work or torches with different coloured plastics/acetates stuck to the top of them to create different colours</li>
<li>Chocolate spread on a spoon as a taster - or real ice cream if it’s a hot day can be great! (Ensure that you check for allergies/nil by mouth before offering)</li>
<li>Vibrating massage tool or vibrating snake (this offers a wonderful sensory experience)</li>
<li>Pharell’s ‘Happy’ song, or an agreed class favourite song and the disco lights - have a dance, have a twirl!</li>
<li>A dark sheet to place over students, indicating night time</li>
</ul>
<p>This sensory story was delivered once a week for a half term and by the final couple of weeks students were beginning to anticipate elements of the story. A nice small group activity.</p>

<p>Created for a mixed ability KS3 maths group: Moderate to Severe learning difficulties, some physical difficulties and in some students high sensory needs.</p>

<p>4/5 visually engaging and interactive lessons surrounding Pattern and Sequence. Explored through team work and independent work. Differentiated work tasks included as well as creative artistic challenges.</p>
<p>Patterns and sequences are explored though shape, number and letters offering both literacy and numeracy learning opportunities. Computer tasks are included offering opportunities to develop IT skills.</p>

<p><strong>Literacy - Word Wall Book A-Z Template<br />
KS1, KS2 and SEN</strong></p>
<p>An A-Z Word Wall Book template from which students can design their own word book, print it and bind it. They can then take this to their lessons and note new words as they discover them. My students really enjoyed customizing these!</p>
