Assessing compass directions, measuring distance, grid references, map symbols, contour lines and describing directions, this workbook is a great revision tool for geographers of any age wanting to hone their OS map skills.

An exam question for each sub-section of the Edexcel Geography A-level specification, organised so that students can complete one per week for each topic between now and the start of May. There is space for appropriate case studies to be written in, plus a ‘tick’ column for students to be able to use for their revision.

All topics included, except for glaciation and health, human rights and intervention (due to my lack of experience with these topics - please do create and share these if you wish!)

PDF versions and Word versions both available; the former for if you like the fonts used, the latter for if you want to do some editing of the resources.

I hope you and your students find these useful!

Map skills questions using a map of Lapland - great if you want to get Christmas in to your lessons but maintain a geographical focus in the last week of term.

Questions on:

Measuring distance

4 and 6 figure grid references

Compass directions

Answers provided on final slide.

Students work through this decision-making exercise, loosely based around the concept of the Hunger Games, to make decisions about various crises presented due to climate change.

Resources include:

A PowerPoint, which introduces the problem, the roles students play, guides the exercise, and presents the correct answers

Problems sheet

Solutions sheet

Decision-making choices sheet

Students take on the role of Greta, a journalist, and a data gatherer to work through the problems together.

This worksheet is to be used when watching the film, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, which is based upon a true story, and is found on Netflix.

It includes questions linked to development, absolute poverty, and climatic challenges.

Worksheet to accompany the Morgan Freeman National Geographic documentary ‘The Story of God’. Worksheet accompanies episode 3 of season 2 entitled ‘Proof of God’.

This activity is based around the idea that sometimes searching for symbols on an OS map can be very much like Where’s Wally. Great to consolidate use of OS map symbols with key stage 3 groups.

Loosely based upon, and using some of the resources from, the ‘Geography of Stuff’ scheme of work by the RGS, this sequence of lessons is all about consumption; its patterns, its problems, and how we can become more responsible consumers. Suitable for year nine students.

Suitable for Edexcel Geography A-level for the water unit, this worksheet provides space for students to explain how both human and physical factors can affect the shapes of hydrographs. Information can be collected from the textbooks.

For Edexcel AS-level geographers. A-level geographers may also find this useful.

For students that want to get stuck into their revision now, this sheet helps them to ensure their revision can be spaced out to guarantee the entire globalisation specification is covered by the start of May.

Links to the spec are made explicit, but still put onus on students to revisit the spec and ensure they are clear about what content they must know. There is also a column for them to write in which case studies apply where, plus a ‘complete’ column that they can use as a tick-sheet.

I have provided both the PDF version (if you like to keep the font!) and the Word version in case you want to add to/amend/alter the document.

Have taken this lovely idea from others and have adapted it for the WJEC 2016 Geography GCSE spec B. It includes a question a day for them to do between Feb half term 2018 and the end of April 2018.
Some details about when the holidays are and outlines of the exams are also included.

Focusing on school subjects, this resource outlines some key achievements of famous Black figures who have been influential in all school subject areas taught in UK secondary schools.
