Athletics Tracker and Sports Day Scoring Spreadsheet

This spreadsheet has two powerful uses:

Assessment & Tracking
You can add results for each event (time/distance etc) and it automatically assigns points to the child’s overall total score, based on the performance in that event. It continually ranks them as their total score changes, which is fantastic for norm referencing - accurately knowing the overall level of each person in the class.

Sports day / House Competition
All individual scores are added to their house groups total. The formula automatically adds up the total house points for that class, which is shown on the right hand side of each sheet.

There is then a separate sheet on there, which continually calculates the overall house total, from every sheet (class). We used this perfectly, to score our school sports day, which involved over 200 students from kindergarden, to grade 9 (year 10).

Editing the spreadhseet for your needs.
You can simply enter the student names and rename each tab, with the name of that class. If you want to use the house scoring and your houses aren’t the same colour as those used by us, a very simple change will need to be made to the formula - any computing teacher or IT technician would be able to do this without issue, in a matter of minutes.

Also, if you wish, you can change the amount of points given for each performance, by playing with the conversion sheet but be aware this would edit scores and formulas. Only do this is you’re confident using the formulas that are visible. I played with the allocation of points a lot and found this to be the fairest awarding of points, by performance. In younger ages, they can of course use lighter weighted equipment and run shorter distances - this is what we did for sports day.
