This is a complete set of printable slides which go through the first 20 elements of the periodic table.

Students are challenged to

Count the number of electrons,

Write the electron shell configuration,

Name the element from a periodic table,

Write the Chemical symbol for the element.

This resource is designed for flipped / home learning.
The question slides could be sent out initially.
With the answer slides sent for self assessment at a later point.
These slides also make a great daily Chemistry question which can be scheduled to be posted in advance.

Happy identifying!

Key concepts related to the Periodic Table of Elements shown visually.

Groups -
Are displayed at the top, but also can be identified by the number of Xs on the coloured ring of the element (Outer shell).
Groups of elements share the same colouring, with a darker colour denoting a larger element.

Periods -
Completed shells are displayed on the element, along with the number of electrons in that shell (GCSE level)
The more completed shells an element has the darker the internal colour.

States of matter -
The colour of the outer ring of an element quickly shows if an element is a solid, liquid or a gas (or Unknown), at 25℃.

Atomic Mass -
Atomic Mass of the element is shown on a digital scale to help identify this number in comparison to the atomic number.

This resource was based on the OCR GCSE Chemistry Gateway B specification. If there is demand for the remaining elements missing, these can be added to the resource.

I hope this is a helpful resource in demystifying the Periodic Table. Enjoy!
