<p>Fans of Japanese culture, anime or manga will love this lesson exploring how to write your non-Japanese name in Japanese. <strong>You don’t need to know any Japanese</strong> to be able to deliver this, as all the rules and information are laid out on the slides.<br /> The lesson looks at borrowed words and the <strong>Katakana alphabet</strong> which is used for non-native Japanese words, including names. It explores borrowed words in English to help clarify what this means in Japanese - there is a quiz to help this become clear.</p>

<p>Up to 2 lessons of highly interactive and fully differentiated content exploring Blake’s ‘London’, leading to fully differentiated analysis which students can self and peer-assess.</p> <p>Introduced by Hogarth’s ‘Gin Lane’ for historical context and a fun keyword matching activity, students will enjoy reading the poem and learning key quotes. Finally there is a fun game of bingo to help with understanding and mastering the poem’s language.</p>

<p>Updated for 2024: A research-informed lesson which discusses the effect of the porn/pornography industry and the permanence of sending nudes. This includes topics such as what is/isn’t legal, porn’s effect on the brain, relationships and society, and videos and statistics which explore these themes further.</p> <p>The first videos are Terry Crewes and Billie Eilish talking about their opinions/experiences of porn, which gets pupils interested and engaged.</p> <p>Lesson is built primarily around statistics and research found on the website: ‘fight the new drug’. It’s a very informative website where pupils could research this further in an accessible, but research-informed way. All sources are cited and further information is available for those who want to know more.</p>

<p>An array of A4 sized posters that can be printed in colour and stuck around the classroom to add some life, fun and intrigue into English Language and Literature. My students always asked questions to learn more about the topics the posters cover, so it led to lots of new opportunities to explore these areas. Their faces always lit up when they understood the poster’s content!</p>

<p>A one-off lesson which builds up to a debate/presentation about whether or not Trick or Treating is okay. The timers need pressing on the slide to start - the sound effect when they run out is quite the scream, so beware of that!</p>
