Here is my model plan (with blank planning resource) and WAGOLL for a Year 6 biography on Anne Frank. The planning comes with space for notes, subordinate clause, relative clause and sentence opening ideas to incorporate into writing. (You could add ideas into these spaces to support those working at a lower attainment) Each section of the plan then has a WAGOLL. I model using the plan to write my own up (handwritten) on flipchart paper to display but there is a given WAGOLL for each part of the plan to build up to the final piece. There are some purposeful errors on the plans and writing whereby I model checking and editing my work, so please feel free to delete/add more, depending upon how you teach this editing skill. This unit usually takes about a week, with a session to research and add organised, chronological notes onto the plan then using the planning notes to write up each section of the biography and editing with partners, through reading aloud each others work and discussing together how to improve it.
I hope this saves you some research and time! Writing a WAGOLL is a mammoth task!
Please don't distribute! This resource took me a long time to make!
Here is my whole writing display for my writing centre/area. I have a half term focus which is in the middle of the display with a handwritten example and when I see a good one from the chn I also display theirs. The non focus writing genres are always displayed as they can choose to write about those also, as they have a list with all the things a good one would need!
I love this display!
Thankyou!
