CHURCHILL OCR ALEVEL EXAM QUESTIONS BRITAIN 1930-1997

(1)
This booklet is to support A2 students completing the Churchill module. I have went through OCR past paper questions and produced this booklet. The questions are quite similar compared to the old spec, however the old spec was a 70 marker and had 5 sources. I have taken 1 source out and changed the question to fit the new exam. There are seven essays to choose from. The old mark schemes are on the OCR website, however they will be linked to the 70 mark question. A generic mark scheme for the A2 is also easily available on the OCR site.

In this bundle you will have a powerpoint that provides guidance on how to answer a 30 mark question. In the powerpoint, I have also provided sample structure sheets to build up students skills. The second resource is a 30 mark 4 source question on the Munich Crisis. I have highlighted areas that I felt that showed Churchill views were justified, and in a different colour, how they were not justified. Under each source has a box, where students can include knowledge. This again is to reenforce the importance of bringing knowledge and sources together. The third resource is an exemplar that I have made up myself. Although the exam board doesn’t require an Introduction, I have broken the answer down and give example paragraphs, as well as “teacher comments” underneath as to why it is a good answer. I appreciate that the exam board do not like providing structure and are open to many structure types, however I feel that this answer hits all the skills for L5, and would best suit an A candidate. I will make a C candidate response soon.

This is a DIRT lesson I carried out after my year 11 did a mock in October. It is based on History B Germany 1918-1945 I primarily focus on how to answer 4,9 and 16 marker with examples of a C-A* introduction and conclusions for 16 marker. I have also emphasised the difference between description and explanation, and have broken down the 16 marker in a clear "ice berg" visual, to help students understand the break down of this question

Attached is a PPT for the question why did the victor's didn't get what they want. I have also attached structure strips that will help them answer this style of question. The main task is for the students to make a diamond 8 on which is the most important reason why they didn't get what they want. I made it from an old past paper question that was 7 marks in the old spec, but just as useful now. Included is also the mark scheme. Suits perfectly for IGCSE

This PPT runs through each of the 26 articles of the Covenant On the last three slides, there is a table for students to fill in based on : The name of the article Strengths and weaknesses I have tried my best to break down each article to support student understanding, as some of them are difficult to grasp. Students were put into groups, and given sections of the Covenant. This was completed over 2 x 100 minute sessions.
