A detailed RE unit planned for a yr5 class including 6 lessons thoroughly planned with Smart presentations for each lesson, MTP and resources. It considers what Christians believed to be the mission of Jesus, and whether these ideas are still relevant today. It looks at forgiveness, love, fairness/justice, right choices and kindness/ generosity. Feedback welcome. Detailed RE unit planned for a yr5/6 class, considering why some people believe in God and others do not. It looks at Christian beliefs in what God is like and how God is described in the bible. Why some people believe the natural world is evidence of his existence but others refer to science instead. A consideration of Jewish faith and how the Holocaust could test this. Ending with a balanced argument to show different points of view and to consider their own opinion. There is a MTP giving an overview to all 7 lessons with each lesson having a Smartboard presentation and sheets for the tasks. Feedback welcome.

It covers balanced arguments, explanation, persuasion and narrative writing along with character study and editing. Here are some of activities I have made linked to the book ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell. One is linked to chapter 4; writing a creative poem about the strange living things in the Amazon Rainforest. Another activity is to complete a character study after reading up to chapter 5; pupils must sort the statements based on what they know about the four children. There is also an activity to complete after reading up to chapter 11 when they discover a map.

This is a unit of work I made for yr5/6. It covers how Islam started, where this period fits into history, the countries that formed the Islamic Empire, inventions and ideas that came from the Golden Age, what made it successful, the Silk Road (trading), the city of Baghdad, comparisons between Baghdad and Britain, Islamic artwork, designing and making an Islamic house. English lessons are also link in by writing a postcard home and making a persuasive leaflet promoting the city of Baghdad and the accommodation (the Islamic house that they make). Lessons have SMART NOTEBOOK presentations and differentiated resources.

This is something I made to help children consider the different emotions they have felt during lockdown and afterwards. It links to positive and negative emotions and how everyone’s experience is different. It involves talking, small writing task and then artwork to show the emotions they felt in picture form inside a head silhouette.

Here is a sequence of lessons that introduce the book Viking Boy by Tony Bradman (brilliant book) and lead to writing a flashback from the point of view of the character Gunnar. The book can be read alongside the writing but you need to have read up to chapter 4 for the flashback writing to make sense. Lesson 1 - book introduction using VIPERS skills. Slides to be used before the KS2 SATs tests as a quick warm up and refresh session. I have made slides for the SPaG, reading, arithmetic and the maths reasoning paper. Hope you find them useful.

Based on the book Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carroll, I have made an activity to study the main character Lilian. This uses the first three pages of the story to extract information about Lilian,her family and the setting. Differentiated sheets included with a Notebook presentation for the lesson.

There are two lessons here; one to plan the poem (including differentiated sheets) and the second lesson is writing the poem. It uses a clip to show a robin searching for food at winter time. This forms the structure of the poem by using descriptive language for the robin’s journey.

Smart Notebook slides (with answers) and pupil booklet included. The idea of daily 4 is that it doesn’t take too long to complete as a quick morning task, but keeps key arithmetic skills ticking over. Different fraction calculations feature on all slides as this is something I have found pupils always need reminding about. It also included decimals, multiplication, division, percentage of amounts and BODMAS. There 20 pages in the booklet (4 weeks worth on the run up to SATs).
