A compendium of riddles, puzzles, optical illusions and tongue twisters to use as starters for lessons or even a break in between activities. Careful though! Resources to help teach the 'Becoming Pregnant' lesson from the new Exploring Science Scheme of Work. A PowerPoint with resources such as the T/F card sort which is a nice starter for the lesson. The 'opinion line' can be controversial but this should promote debate and engage pupils. The diamond 9 resource can be used as a SMSC link within Science. There are other resources such as the 'market place' where information is summarised by groups and then traded with each other. The 'reproduction group activity' is useful for higher ability pupils to consider other factors that can impact on a pregnancy. Finally, the 'agony aunt' dilemma should help pupils feel empathy towards teenage mothers-to-be and should influence their position on the 'opinion line' when it is reformed.

A PPT to carry out a survey on characteristics, looking at variation. Pupils will have the chance to carry out observations and record their results. Also, develop skills on drawing bar graphs and identifying patterns in their results (results table included).

A Power Point with a series of motivational quotes. Useful for the run-up to exams and can be used at the start of the lesson (or end!). Includes a slide with hints on how to answer questions. Good for resilience and was designed for Science but could be used for any subject.

Following on a from a retrieval quiz, pupils use this sheet to help identify gaps in their knowledge and then answer the questions based on AO’s. For the brighter pupils in your class, move them straight onto AO3 questions.

Worksheets to investigate reaction distances/times. There are 3 versions to allow for differentiation within the lesson, low (L), Middle (M) and high (H).

A Power Point for a practical investigating the impact of exercise on pulse rate. Lesson and resources are designed for low ability pupils including worksheets differentiated for EAL and LA (Low ability). There is also a keyword sheet with the keywords translated in Romanian, Spanish and Urdu.

A simple PPT to teach moments that can be used to teach KS3 and KS4 (may need adapting). Includes questions and answers as well as a challenge for the high ability and some problem solving too! Used it with my top set year 8 and worked really well.
