There are 15 construction cards included in this set and children will love the challenge of building the various items: towers, bridges, robot, car, train, rocket etc. After making each item, the student will count how many of each 3D shape they used and write the number. Then they can add the total to find out ‘how many blocks they used altogether’ to build their item.

This would make an ideal Maths activity station for a Reception class. There are varying levels of difficulty. This is an excellent task to develop:

  • Fine-motor skills
  • Problem solving and reasoning skills
  • Hand-eye co-ordination
  • Language development
  • Mathematical understanding: geometry (3D shape), counting, addition, etc.
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths)

Print the 8 pages in colour. Cut into individual cards (you may prefer to laminate first).

NOW AVAILABLE IN 2 FORMATS – A4 SIZE and US LETTER SIZE (8.5” x11”). PDF’s in both sizes are included when you purchase this product.

My Reception children enjoyed this activity. I laminated the cards and used them as a Maths activity station. It requires the children to practice a range of skills: construction of blocks (matching and finding the same 3D shapes as shown in the picture), counting the blocks, writing numerals, adding together and finding the total. A great activity that I will be able to re-use. Thank you
