This Christmas-themed resource includes five grid-based designs: a reindeer, Christmas tree, Santa, stocking, and fireplace, all created by colouring squares on grid paper.
Alongside the completed designs, blank grid paper is provided for children to replicate the patterns or create their own festive designs.
Maths and Skills Involved:
• Counting and Spatial Awareness: Children count the squares needed for each part of the design.
• Symmetry and Pattern Recognition: Identifying symmetry or repeated patterns in the designs.
• Fine Motor Skills: Careful colouring within the squares to match the designs or make their own.
• Problem Solving and Creativity: Replicating the given designs or using spatial reasoning to create original ones.
• Geometry: Understanding shapes and spatial arrangements within a grid structure.
For durability and repeated use, the designs can be laminated.
