This covers topic 1: Bones and Muscle Contraction. You get the students worksheets, teachers worksheet with answers and powerpoint. Students will have to use books as well to answer the questions as there are independent studies in the worksheet. Plus exam questions at the end. Please note that you may need to alter the powerpoint as I do my lesson on a mac.

List the major bones in the human skeleton and describe their location.
• Analyse the different types of bones.
• Describe the structure of skeletal muscle fibres.
• Explain how skeletal muscles contract, including the release of calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum, the forming of cross bridges, the sliding of actin and myosin.
