These are lessons which can be adapted for any level of class at Key Stage 3 or 4. The new GCSE requires students to be able to express themselves in writing and speaking more spontaneously. I have found that discussing topics such as music has helped develop students' confidence.
Lesson 1: Raise student’s cultural awareness of young French people’s musical taste in France today and developing spontaneous talk skills to express opinions on modern French hits.
Lesson 2: Enable students to widen their opinions on different types of music and artists
Lesson 3: Enable students to discuss their own musical taste using a wide range of language and tenses
These lessons include:
• Engaging power points which support the students
• Differentiated resources (support and extension worksheets)
• Target language reading on famous artists and hyperlinks to songs
• Translation tasks
• Bank of French phrases to discuss music
• Phonics and spontaneous talk strategies
• Peer and self-assessment
