A complete lesson to introduce IB DP Physics students into kinematics.

This resource includes a lesson plan, worksheet to use during class and practice questions. The worksheet can also be used as a standalone worksheet. At the end of the worksheet you can find practice questions that can be used as homework to assess your students understanding.

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to understand the basic concepts of kinematics, differentiate between position and displacement, and recognize vector quantities in kinematics

Understandings/Skills:

  • Frames of reference, the concept of position.
  • the change in position is the displacement
  • the difference between distance and displacement
  • Identify a quantity as a scalar or vector.
