AQA GCSE Biology: How to plan a new human drug trial

This is an annotated and narrated powerpoint presentation for GCSE Biology and Trilogy to help next year’s Year 11 students catch up after Covid19. It integrates investigation skills with theory of how drug trials are planned, looking at independent, dependent and control variables, the use of large sample sizes to increase reliability, the use of placebos and double blind trials and how test groups should be matched in terms of their BMI, severity of symptoms, age, gender, diet and other factors. The presentation is followed with a task sheet for students where they can use images to revise the concepts in this topic, which examiners often revisit.
