This is one of my most important and effective resources: getting students to engage properly with (not just read, but actually engage with) the assessment criteria, and to turn their understanding into a to-do list. I get students to highlight all the key words in the top mark criteria, and then write a series of clear, concrete actions (i.e. ‘I am going to photograph my client using their existing bike storage, to find out what problems they have’, instead of ‘investigate target user’) to enable them to progress towards the top grade.
