A series of lessons (1-2) on finding the area of a triangle. It allows the pupils to learn the basics but quickly gets into reverse questions and also compound shape questions. There are then problem solving questions linking triangles and rectangles. The lesson then has some more challenging compound shape questions and then an algebraic question to really challenge the more able pupils.
All tasks are differentiated, 2-4 levels for each task to make it accessible to all pupils but also to stretch the more able. All tasks have full solutions to it is easy to peer and self assess during the lesson. The lesson includes reasoning and problem solving tasks which ensure that this is suitable for the 9-1 GCSE curriculum. I have used this lesson and pupils were engaged yet challenged.
