Two activities which can last 4 lessons + 1 homework.
First lesson - explaining the key events of the tapestry in informal language with images to match. Followed by a chronology task showing the 6 key events in images and in more formal laguage.
Extension task for more able - discussing reliability of the tapestry as a historical source.
Second and third lesson - (requires to have studied Motte and Bailey, Domesday, Feudal and Harrying of the North)
Study the features of the tapestry and complete the tapestry including “what happened next”. Great as an assessment of knowledge& understanding/ Organisation and communication etc. Allows creative students as well as the more able to challenge themselves and a opportunity for guidance for the less able to succeed. Also make for nice classroom decorations!
