Please ensure you can access the video before you get this resource. These questions are for an approx. five-minute video, one of a set of five. This sheet is CHEAPER if you get them all in the VERY CHEAP bundle. I’ve only listed the sheets separately in order to make the bundle. The BBC says “We are transported back to the year 500 BCE to meet Aspasia of Miletus - one of the most important women in Athens - who introduces us to the city-states of Ancient Greece and shares facts about the daily life of the citizens of Athens, the most powerful of all the city-states at that time.
The topics Aspasia covers includes work, home life, food, marriage and the lives of children. She explains the importance of the sea as a source of food and transportation; the domestic arrangements of a typical household - including slaves; and the fact that boys can go to school to learn skills such as debating, but girls must stay at home and learn housekeeping.”
Differentiated THREE ways! All versions look very similar, but “B” version has subtle clues, and “C” version requires pupils to cross out wrong answers, not write in correct ones, allowing pupils with literacy difficulties to access the work. 16 questions for the 5-minute film. .doc and .pdf of all sheets, link to video on all sheets. Answer sheet. Very easy to mark.
The BBC KS2 Class Clips Ancient Greece web-page has the video and extensive teachers’ notes, suggesting further work.
