Classroom Spelling Activity Idea Poster

Spelling Menu. A variety of spelling tasks to encourage pupils to diversify their spelling practice. Display this poster in your classroom for pupils to see and choose a method of practicing their spelling words.

Cover the activities and choose a couple each week to demonstrate to the class, after discovering them all pupils will be able to choose their favourite to complete during practice. When pupils are aware of all the examples you can choose one for them all to use during the lesson.

Featured Spelling Activities;
Rhyme Time- Find words which rhyme with the spelling words
Picture Practice- Draw pictures of the spelling words
Silly Sentences- Create a silly sentence using the spelling word
ABC Order- Write all the spelling words in alphabetical order
Secret Code- Create a secret code to practice the spelling words and swap with a partner to solve
Consonants and Vowels- Write consonants in blue and vowels in red
UPPERCASE and lowercase- Write words once in uppercase and once in lowercase
CrossWord Spelling- Connect all the words like a crossword
Backwards- Spell the words backwards and then forwards
Scrambled Words- Re-arrange the letters of your spelling words to create new words
