Computing Unit and Lesson Plan

The “Introduction to Computing” unit is designed for Year 1 students to introduce the basics of computing such as the functions of input and output devices, basic computer skills like using a mouse and keyboard, and creating simple digital products using basic software. Each lesson includes interactive activities, group work and practical tasks. Assessment is formative and summative, assessing both students understanding and their ability to create a final product, this will allow the teacher to give feedback and evaluate the students progress. The unit aims to build interest and confidence in technology and computing.
