Students are encouraged to write a first person account of a day in the life of a snowman. Students need to have a firm grasp of figurative language before attempting this task. The PowerPoint encourages students to read their work to each other at the end of the lesson. If you wish, you could include a task which encourages peer assessment at the end. This PowerPoint can be edited for different abilities. You could ask some students to use more sophisticated figurative language like pathetic fallacy and personification.
