In the lesson, the textbook pages refer to the course textbook: Revolutions in early modern and modern europe.
This should take approximately 2 lessons.
Starter is a recap, following by a textbook task looking at interpretation events. Pupils then watch a video about the Duma before creating a timeline and then summarising how radical the first two Duma’s were. Pupils then develop this further, by deciphering pictograms about Nicholas II’s relations with the Duma’s (answers are on the powerpoints). Pupils then use this knowledge to construct a series of tweets to summarise their understanding, before taking part in an acting activity.
Pupils then use the handout to work out how much this affects the autocratic state of the Russian government, before discussing how to summarise all of this information in a structured essay.
