This is a 5 mini lesson scheme on Edgar Allan Poe’s The Black Cat. It includes a focus on comprehension of the key events, as well as building vocabulary and exploring how tension is built through the story.
This pack also includes a copy of the original story (not my copy) and a simplified, differentiation copy which I have created.
There is also a reading assessment included in the pack, focused on Paper 1 reading and analysis skills.
This lesson can be used in conjunction with the lessons on ‘introduction to gothic conventions’ and ‘context of Edgar Allan Poe’.
