These engaging activities for students aged 11-16 explore the skills young people need to be effective change makers in their lives, their communities and the world around them. Each activity pack includes ready-to-use activities for teachers that can be easily added to lesson plans or used as standalone sessions, with context and background information that can be shared with learners before starting each activity. The accompanying slideshow can be used alongside the activities, to help facilitate the lesson with visual aids.

Learners will:

  • Think critically about your personal skillset.
  • Work collaboratively to rank different types of skills according to how important they are.
  • Consider how skills and jobs can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Discuss what and who can help us to learn skills and investigate potential barriers.
  • Take action to develop your own skills and those of the people around you.

To help teachers integrate the activities into their lesson plans, there are curriculum links for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but the resources can also be used outside of the UK.
