Lesson 1-7: This SEVEN lesson Unit covers both Industry and Audience. After having taught ‘LNWH’ last year, I discovered much about how better to teach the content/ how students engaged with it better. Moreover, if you have been following the structure of my other AS lessons, this lesson is the end of COMPONENT 1 TEACHING. This resource covers:

-A breakdown of Examiner expectations with regards to set episode and two selected excerpts.
-Three SEC B questions that students will learn about then attempt with support materials.
-A listening activity to the set episode with colouring and audience activity to keep them occupied as well as advice.
-Context of ‘LNWH’ and ‘Woman’s Hour’.
-Mainstream V Niche audiences.
-Commercial V Public Service Broadcasters
-The BBC Remit and Mission Statement
-BBC 4 Media Pack activity on Audience.
-The use of both hosts to attract audiences.
-The ‘Me Too’ movement.
-The all female panel with an application of Reception theory.
-Scheduling, Primetime and the Watershed.
-Regulation and OFCOM
-Danny Baker case study and the power of Radio.
-Advantages of Old and New Media.
-Media convergence and Podcasts.
-Marshall McLuhan and the Digital Divide.
-Creation of a revision Resource based on named audience and Industry theorists as well as additional others.
-Differentiated resources at the end of the power point on theory to aid students through the tasks.

NOTE: All task sheets, differentiated resources and audio/visual stimuli are included within the lesson/ Power Point as is H/W.Some tasks may be dependent on owning the EDUQAS YEAR 1, AS COURSE GUIDE and may be supported with a reading of Mark Dixon’s Media Theory for A-Level book.

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school is only providing Media Studies at a AS/A2 Two- Year Course. If you liked this resource and found it useful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could feedback or rate my resource as I am constantly trying to adapt and refine my resources to improve the learning of my students. Many thanks.

As always these are good resources for a base plate - but having to uncentre, unbold, remove colours (all SEN unfriendly) and correct the English is getting a bit tiresome - License fee - it's etc. Happy to proofread if Jake wants me to.
