Overview: Building on from a previous study about the convict transportation (see Early Modern period lessons), students will explore reasons why transportation to Australia was popular during the Industrial Age. Students will also examine reasons why this process both increased and eventually decreased over the period. This lesson also gives students the opportunity to build source analysis skills.

Suitability: Designed for Key Stage 4 (Years 10 – 11), but highly suitable for upper-KS3.
