In this test:

Simplify surds
Simplify and add/subtract surds
Multiply a single bracket with surds
Multiply a double bracket with surds
Rationalise the denominator of a simple fraction
Rationalise the denominator of a harder fraction

Answer to the extension q:
Using Pythagoras: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
(√3)^2 + (2+√5)^2
3 + (2+√5)(2+√5)
3 + 4 + 4√5 + 5
12 + 4√5

Then:
(√2 + √10)^2
(√2 + √10)(√2 + √10)
2 + 2√20 + 10
12 + 2√20 (2√20 = 2 x √4 x √5 = 2 x 2 x √5 = 4√5)
12 + 4√5
So it is a right angled triangle.
