Forests provide plenty of inspiration to enable children to compose poetry and write stories. A forest visit also provides numerous topics suitable for non-fiction reading and writing.

I downloaded and used this lesson plan alongside several others from Forestry England. This lesson plan came in really handy and I used this to form the basis of my lesson on exploring literacy and poetry in the forest. My Year 5 class produced some amazing poems as a result! Would highly recommend this resource to any KS2 teachers.
