With the Football World Cup 2018 having just started, the children will enjoy designing their very only medal. This simple project will give the children the opportunity to act out some footballing poses and try to draw each other in those poses as stick figures. They will then work out how big they need to make the drawings and improve the quality of their sketching. Having chosen their favourite design, they can then develop the stick figure into a final idea and then add colour to it. If you are able, you can prepare some cardboard blanks to stick the medal onto and then add some ribbon, or you could just leave it as a design activity.
I find it useful to bring some footballs in to help with the role play, a selection of medals to look at and draw stick figures on the board emphasizing the joints by adding a little dot where they are.
