Add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions without a gimmick in sight. No upside down picnic tables, no KFC, no “cross multiply”… students rarely remember them correctly anyway so why confuse them to start with! In order to do this students must already be familiar with collecting like terms, equivalent fractions and converting between mixed and improper fractions.
It is meant to be the skeleton of the unit, and key explanations. Further practise is needed with more questions required. I didn’t include these as we all have a bank of these questions which can be used! Constructive feedback is welcome.
