GCSE English - Study of Jekyll and Hyde
A full unit of study with 33 lessons (65 resources) following Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’
Aimed at middle ability GCSE classes, this unit of work is designed for a 12-week study and focuses on reading and analytical skills in preparation for GCSE literature exams.
Each lesson has a PowerPoint presentation (to last for an hour lesson) and corresponding worksheets in editable Word format.
Starter activities include vocabulary building exercises looking at etymology and the Frayer model to aid with understanding of some of the difficult language. Lessons are scaffolded and each task within the lessons has colour coded stretch and challenge activities. The lessons work through the entire novella and include assessment tasks to track student progress. There are model answers, inference flowcharts and quote breakdowns - guiding students through GCSE literature assessment criteria.
This unit prepares students for the 19th century literature question in the AQA GCSE English Literature examinations.
