Summary of passage

Georgia O’Keeffe, a renowned artist, was born in 1887 in Wisconsin and developed a love for art at a young age. She studied art, focusing on using bright colors and big shapes in her paintings, particularly flowers. O’Keeffe moved to New York City in 1916 and married photographer Alfred Stieglitz, who recognized her talent and showcased her work in his gallery. However, O’Keeffe eventually moved to New Mexico to be closer to nature and found inspiration in the desert landscapes. Her unique style, which involved zooming in on objects and painting them on a large scale, gained her fame and admiration. In 1949, O’Keeffe became the first female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. She continued to paint until her death in 1986, leaving behind an enduring legacy. Today, her artwork can be seen at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe.
