German Vocabulary - Compounds

German Vocabulary - Compounds is a no-prep pack of 400 German compounds aimed at all age groups from 13 years + followed by 3 sets of exercises and an answer key.

The compound words are categorised in alphabetical order under 17 topics (in the form of a glossary) ranging from ACCIDENTS and ROADS to WEATHER. Each compound is broken down into its component parts and an English translation is provided for each one.

The first set of exercises, A, contains relationship graphics and require the students to break down some German compounds into their parts and to provide an English translation.

The second set of exercises, B, contains the English translation and the students are tasked with providing either the first or second part of the German compound.

The third set of exercises, C, contains relationship graphics with the words provided in English. One component part of the compound is missing and students are required to complete the full compound.

USES:

The glossary can be used with students on an ongoing basis each time a new topic is covered. The relevant topic page could be printed and distributed to students for reference and study.

Any of the engaging sets of exercises could be used to test students’ knowledge of a wide variety of German compounds either at the start, in the middle or end of the school year. They could also be used as assessment material, as classroom exercises or homework exercises.
