This lesson covers the shift of the ITCZ north and south, and with the axial tilt the formation of semi-arid climates with dry seasons and wet seasons. It contains some homemade animations to demonstrate this complicated idea! Certainly one to challenge the higher-ability students.
All of my lessons follow the Edexcel B spec closely. They use ‘point’ > ‘develop’ > ‘double-develop’ for developing chains of reasoning similar to the Edexcel mark schemes. For 8-mark extended writing we use the ‘A,K,U’ structure where ‘A’ is assessment (AO3), ‘K’ is knowledge (AO1/AO4), and ‘U’ is understanding (AO2).
Powerpoints contain useful tools in slides at the end, including active-X timers.
Every exam question has a model answer for self and peer-assessment, and where possible I include examples of student’s work (particularly for extended writing).
