This is an exemplar essay designed to model the standard required for a Grade 8-9 in the AQA English Literature Paper 2 Section B.
The exemplar includes an introduction and conclusion and ONE main paragraph. I do indicate on the paper that approximately 2-3 more of these main paragraphs would be required, but I found that one example was enough for my top set class to get the idea!
The main paragraph focuses on how to compare structure and also include references to context.
The essay is written to focus on 'Before you were mine' and 'Follower', the question being 'Discuss how the poems present the relationship between a parent and child.'

This is NOT a complete essay - this is only indicated if you click on read more. I also don't think the quality of the essay is indicative of 8/9 level. I have seen superior work from my most able students and would say this is probably more of a grade 7 standard, certainly not 9.
