An engaging lesson for GCSE students studying the AQA specification for Health and the People. This lesson allows students to develop their knowledge and understanding on the following:
- Why surgery was risky in medieval times
- what surgery involved in medieval times
- who the key surgeons were during the Middle Ages.
The main activity allows students to examine key medieval surgeons who are located around the room. Students can then form a judgement on who was the best medieval surgery.
There are a range of strategies included in the lesson to check the progress of students including a game of guess who.
There is also a GCSE exam question included in the lesson.
